Openings

The HPI Lab is looking for motivated undergraduate interns and graduate students (M.S., Ph.D., and Integrated) to pioneer the next generation of Physical AI. We bridge the gap between digital intelligence and physical reality to create technologies that assist humans in their daily lives.

Research Frontiers

We focus on Physical Intelligence that enables AI agents to perceive, act, and interact within the real world to provide beneficial services to humans and society. Our core research includes:

  • Multi-Modal Robot Action Learning: Developing adaptable and generalizable action models based on multi-modal sensors for dexterous manipulation and navigation.
  • 3D Environment Perception & Understanding: Advancing how physical AI agents perceive, map, and reason about complex 3D spaces.
  • Human-AI-Robot Interaction: Designing seamless collaboration frameworks between humans and autonomous systems.

Our Culture: Fun & Hardworking

We believe that high-impact research requires both rigor and a supportive environment.

  • Hardworking: We tackle difficult, unsolved problems and aim for top-tier venues (CVPR, NeurIPS, ICML, ICRA, etc.).
  • Fun: We maintain a collaborative, high-energy atmosphere where ideas are shared freely, and personal growth is prioritized alongside project success.
  • Practical: We prioritize “Physical AI” that actually works on hardware, utilizing our dedicated workstations and robotic platforms.

Who We Are Looking For

  • Graduate Students: Individuals with a strong background in CS, Robotics, EE, or ME and a desire to publish world-class research.
  • Undergraduate Interns: Proactive students eager to gain hands-on experience with robots and deep learning frameworks.
  • Skills: Proficiency in Python/C++, experience with PyTorch or ROS is a plus, and a resilient “can-do” attitude toward technical challenges.
